Designated Prescribing Practitioner support
Our clinical supervision programme supports clinicians and pharmacists working towards advance practice & independent prescribing. We provide clinical supervision or Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) dependent on needs. Students gain from structured coaching across your postgraduate qualification — drawing on direct experience of taking students through to successful completion of their qualification.
We have supported pharmacists through to independent prescriber qualification within structured, funded development programmes, and have led and mentored large clinical teams.
How we help
A Designated Prescribing Practitioner is an experienced prescriber who supervises, supports and assesses a trainee prescriber in practice. The DPP signs off the period of learning in practice that sits alongside the academic qualification.
Clinicians and pharmacists, and other allied health professionals, who are working towards an independent prescribing qualification and need a designated prescribing practitioner and structured support.
Students enrol on any number of approved postgraduate academic providers, at the discretion of the applicant. The DPP or clinical supervisor then provides the practice-based element of the qualification.
Clinical supervision, education and support; structured training opportunities; supervised shadowing hours; and access to real-world experience with patients.
The time commitment is tailored to the applicant and depends on the length of the chosen course. We agree this with you after an initial enquiry.
